State Senator Karin Housley (R-St. Mary’s Point) announced today that she will not be a candidate for governor in 2014. Last December, Housley said she was giving “thoughtful and serious consideration” about becoming a candidate for governor.
In a statement reported by the Forest Lake Times, Housley said “…after thinking about it, talking to my family and the constituents of the 39th Senate District, I feel that this is not the right time for me.”
Housley was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012 and as I noted previously, she is considered one of the strongest Republican members in the Minnesota Senate with tremendous statewide potential.
