One dead and 7 injured after two boats collided in Fort France.

On August 4, 2022, at 11 pm, two boats collided in Fort-du-France Bay. Substantial evidence was gathered to trace the 8 people who traveled on these boats.



Today (August 5, 2022) at around 6am, the body of the man who went missing last night was finally recovered from Fort-de-France Bay. He is about 30 years old. Firefighters confirmed this information.

The other 7 victims were rescued on the night of August 4 and 5, 2022.

The accident took place around 11 pm. Two boats collide in the bay of Fort-de-France, one of which sinks.

Considerable resources were mobilized to locate the victims. The captaincy moved marine traffic into Fort-de-France Bay to facilitate the search, which continued until 1 a.m.

An investigation has been initiated by the police.

Hundreds of boats and jet skis followed the 4th stage of the Tour de Martinique in Yols Rondes, with the finish line at La Francaise beach in Fort-de-France. From the start of the stage in Saint-Pierre, many for some fearing accidents.

Note that a similar accident occurred during the tour in 2018.
